Haiti Trip

Hi everyone! Here's how my trip to Haiti went!

-----
I have been in Colorado Springs on a missions internship with Engineering Ministries International for a couple months now. At the end of September, I went on a trip with EMI to Haiti to help design an orphanage. Now I'm back in Colorado Springs until the middle of December.
------
What struck me most about the trip to Haiti is how smoothly the trip went. Aside from our project leader, Bob, and his wife, Marilyn, no one had been on an EMI trip before, but in spite of that we got more than enough work finished in-country.There is a huge presence of voodoo in the country, but in spite of that we didn't see any signs of voodoo and it was not a difficult trip for us spiritually. Sometimes architects don't get along very well, but our three architects who didn't know each other before the trip got along very well. The entire team got along so well that at the end of ten days it felt like we had known each other for years.

We were designing an orphanage for God’s Vision For Haiti, a ministry that was founded by a Haitian couple, Juska and Jona Lazarre. They are living in the United States, but wanted to go back and build an orphanage in the town of Les Cayes, Haiti. We mainly worked with Juska, who grew up in the city of Les Cayes, and seems to know everyone there. Working with him was great, partly because of his cheerfulness and passion for God, and partly because he thoroughly spoiled us with fresh seafood that his family had caught that day. We even had lobster one night, pictured on the left.

Prayer requests:
-Pray for the ministry, God’s Vision for Haiti. Pray that the vision of the orphanage would become a reality. Praise God for the way they GVFH has already been a blessing through providing disaster relief after the earthquake.
-Praise God for how smoothly the trip went, and pray that I would continue being diligent in my work but also that I would have/create more opportunities to get in contact with many friends and family and tell them more about the trip as well!
